His handle is at shad rack fly and he asks what are your thoughts on having broth during a fast? So Eric, what are your thoughts on having broth a during a fast

Eric: 00:38 I think. I think he's going OK. I know when I did, did my uh, my five day water only I exclude bras because I was just doing a test to see, you know, on my Beta hydroxy butyrate molecule on, in my stamina and everything else. But I really think broad is a good idea. Um, it depends if you're, are you making your own broth or are you buying your broth or is that powder bra? So there's a lot of different ways to go with brotha out there, but I think it's good. There's a lot of minerals in there that I'm going support, you know, your, your body functions. Immune system is a beneficial of broth. You're going to get Collagen, which is, you know, absolutely necessary. You want college in. Um, there's a, there's glycine, there's a lot of good benefits to broth and it makes you feel like you're eating something.

Eric: 01:35 It's giving you some taste, you know, I know when I'm fasting, not want to do on a five day, but on other times how fast a couple of days I'll have chicken broth and it just makes me feel like I'm having chicken soup or something. So for mental it's good. I mean it gives you that um, but no good idea. Add Broth, you know, maybe put some sodium in it and make sure you're getting some of your. And I'm not sure how long it fast you're going on, but if you are, make sure you get some, uh, some other minerals like sodium and some potassium maybe in there. And if you're on a long, fast, take a multivitamin with it. But uh, gives you something to look forward to besides water.

Chad: 02:13 So it sounds like we could do an entire episode on Broth

Eric: 02:15 Yeah. And if you make your own bone broth, like a lenient, you're going to on balloons and boiling them down and that's the way to go.

Chad: 02:24 That's the purest. Oh, it's good, you know. But some people put veggies in there

Eric: 02:29 and their, which you're not fasting if you're, if you're putting salary and other stock vegetables in there, you're not really fast.

Chad: 02:37 So keep to the fluid. Let me ask a follow-up question and we've gotten this one before and I think we've actually maybe disgusted in an earlier episode, but not everybody's going have, have heard that is. I have gotten a question actually this was in our q and a episode. Um, but I've gotten the question that if, if you're drinking broth, it's not a true fast.

Eric: 03:01 Basically you are getting some, you know, you're getting minerals, you're getting some, you know, vitamin Collagen, I still call it a fast, you know, and, and people have called it a fat fast and when you're eating, you know, like in the morning and you're having some butter or you having some mct oil, they'll call it a fat fast and it depends in what. I still think it's, it's classified as a fast and I would certainly do it. Um, there's those who say, yeah, we even go without water. How am I going to, that's not really smart. Hydrate yourself and you're just going to cause issues. But there's a, what I'm fasting. I'm not drinking water and, but now, yeah, I would call it a fast. If you're having bras, you know, you're not, you're not getting too many energy sources from that.
